Dorm rooms?

Asked by jrtootsiepop
I'm a senior in high school... and I've started to get accepted to colleges and I'm wondering... should i wait until i talk to my future roommate before i buy stuff for our room? Also does anyone have a good design idea for a dorm room.

Dorming really sucks! Just thought I'd let you know. lol. Thank goodness I live off campus this year. Anyway, you should definitely wait until you talk to your future roommate. I remember my friend and her roommates freshman year didn't talk and they wound up with three mini fridges. It took up so much room and they didn't use all of them. There are certain things you can get for your side, though. I would suggest some sort of shelving unit that can sit on top of a dresser or desk or even on the floor- something light weight, but sturdy. You'll need it because you have such limited space and things can get cluttered easily since it's hard to find a place to put random stuff. You have a long while before you have to get stuff, so just be patient. Also, I would get things- design wise- that you like and don't try to plan your room with a theme or anything. Next year you'll probably have a different roommate and nothing will match anyway. Good luck!
