computer science majors... is real life worse than college life?

Asked by sgrmnl
You know in College everyone talks about going into the real world as if it were some nightmare, and perhaps that may be true in careers like Business Administration and so on. But Computer Science is like a torture in college. I like the topics but the program is difficult, too much for too little time. You probably know what I'm talking about. But I would think life for a CS major would be easier since people specialize just in one area and repeat that same thing in the job for the next years,, get experience and so on, becomes easier. Is that true, or does life become a misery? because I think I'm already at hell =( this is my last semester. + (I don't ambition working for Fortune500 companies, I just want an ok job)

There were many times in "real life" after college that I didn't work nearly as hard or as long as I did in college, I got paid a LOT for not working as hard, and I had a lot more fun. Sometimes the "real world" rocks. On the other hand, when I started my own business, when I took on a CTO job of a large software publisher, and other times...I worked harder than I ever did in college. But it was still more fun, and I still got paid a LOT to do it, unlike college :) Real life is what you make of it. If all you want is an OK job, and that's the level of your ambition, I doubt you'll be putting in any long days or all-nighters at work.
