Grad School Admissions Essay: How long do you think it should be?
The essay is supposed to be a personal statement about my professional/career goals and why I want to attend. How long would you think is sufficient? I know there's obviously no exact requirement, but I'd like to get an idea of what others think is good, and not too long or too short.

Many programs *do* have a length requirement. Be sure to check the website of each program to which you are applying to be sure. Having said that, most personal statements for PhD programs run between 2 and 3 pages, double-spaced, 12 point font. For a Master's program, 2 pages should do. The double spacing is not always required, or even requested, but it's easier on the eyes of the over-40s (like myself) on the admissions committee.
