SAT Subject Tests?

Asked by ASB08
I took the SAT Subject tests. I received 780 for Chem, 730 for Lit, and then 650 for Math Level 1. The math was a major disappointment because I had the exact same score on my SAT Reasoning Math Test when I took it in March. I felt like I had prepared more for this test and I thought I would have done better. I am planning to take the French with Listening in November, and I may do some more serious preparation between now and then for Math Level 2. I received an 800 for the SAT Writing and 700 for the Critical Reading. I have a strong background in extracirricular activities with many leadership positions (not nearly enough space here for details). I also have volunteer experience, some work experience, and I have travelled abroad with educational programs. Additionally, I will have completed 7 credits of foreign language (German and French) by the end of high school. The question: Will the fact that Math is not my strongest area greatly affect my chances for admission? AHH!

It depends on where you are applying and in what fields. There are some schools that won't mind that score, or won't look at what subject that score was in, just the total number when you add your scores together. If you believe that you can do much better and you're going to take more subject tests anyway, go for it. Otherwise, evaluate where you'd like to go and see what the requirements and averages are for the schools and degree programs you are interested in. Remember that those are averages, and they take peopel above and below that score. Good luck!
