College admissions essay?
alright so I am applying to college and the essay topic is something along the lines of "our college takes pride in its very diverse population, based on your background and personal identity how will you contribute to our diverse student body". SO, I am gay and I was wondering if I bring that up if it will be too risky in the essay, given the fact that I could have a chance of having a homophobic admissions officer, what would you do?

Oh my gods, I did the same essay for Ohio State! Seems to be a fairly standard college essay. Go ahead and write about being gay. I don't know what I wrote about for adding diversity being a straight, white, city-dwelling female, but I got in to the schools I applied to. The admissions process isn't ruled by one person (there's a committee) and they're supposed to be unbiased. Unless your applying to a Baptist college in the deep South, you'll be fine. Or you could make stuff up, but I don't recommend it.
