What's the difference between Advanced Placement(AP) and IVY programs? What does IVY stand for?
And plz don't tell me IVY doesn't stand for anything.. cuz I don't think they named it just because it's a high school program teaching advanced college studies..

It's not "IVY", you are mis-hearing it. It's called "IB". IT stands for "International Baccalaureate". But all you need to know is that they are advanced courses that prepare you for college material. So... very similar to AP classes, you learn material at the college level, and you will be tested on it at the end of the year. So.. here's a little info on IB classes. They are classes offered beginning in 11th grade and are are offered in English, Social Science, World Language, Science, Math, Visual Art and Theater Arts classes. Also, like AP exams, they give you weighted GPA. Each semester gives you a "extra" weight of GPA of 0.025. (If you get an A (4.0) on your semester report card, it's caluclated at a 4.025 on your transcript)) Also, When you take the IB exam, you will recieve a certificate stating you complete the course and exam. Something different from the AP classs is that IB is a program in which you can obtain an IB diploma (basically an "advanced" high school diploma) The requirements I can't specifically find, but you would need to complete at certain number of courses, take their exam, do an essay, do certain extracurricular activities and take some kind of philosophy class. IB is fast becoming a alternative to AP. If you have any questions, the official website is.... www.ibo.org Good luck, hope I answered your question!!!
