What are my chances of getting into pharmacy programs?
I want to apply for University of buffalo's Pharm D program or get into Albany college of Pharmacy. My SAT score for Math and Reading is 1120( I will take it one more time). My over all GPA is 3.68. And I am in many programs and afterschool clubs. If my chances are slim, please tell me what I need to seriously improve on. P.S I'm going to be a senior this fall, so I still have a little bit of time before I apply. I will take BC calculus. I might take AP Chem or/and AP english. I don't think my SAT scores are good.... Oh and I'm studying for SAT II for Math lvl 1 and World History. One thing that is killing me is that I'm from New York and we have to take regents. And my regents score are kinda low... And during the college fair, both schools said they look at those grades and consider them a factor. =(

Your chances are so, so. My stats to get into the pharmacy program were 1510/1600 and 4.00 GPA, but I think the average SATs were 1200-1300 and are rising each year. Most of my classmates in pharmacy had a good GPA though. I think it's a bit too late to do anything about the GPA now, but you should definitely study hard for the SATs. It's the easiest thing to improve in a short amount of time. [edit] I think I got a 750 in SAT II Bio, but I don't think I ever even needed it when applying to the pharmacy program. I took it to apply for other colleges. But don't despair, with a little studying, it shouldn't be too hard to pull out an extra 100 pts on the SATs. I can't tell you how important I think it is to get a good score. It's not the end of the world if you don't, but I think it help push me over the edge for many of my schools, and was also the key to many scholarships. This fall is going to be rough, but don't stress too much. Remember that it's your last year of hs and have fun!
