Albany Law School is is Tier 3 with a bar passage rate of 77%. Only 53% of its graduates were employed at graduation, although 95.8% were employed within 9 months of graduation. "BigLaw" - where most high-paying attorney gigs are - typically hire their 2L graduates, so this does not bode well for getting one of these jobs. Its Peer assessment score (5.0 highest) is 2.1, and its Assessment score by lawyers/judges (5.0 highest) is 2.4. These numbers are subjective, but reflect its reputation. It is a decent school if you really, really want to be a lawyer, not if you want to go to law school as a ticket to big money. There are better law schools in New York, aside from NYU, Cornell, and Columbia (Top 14 schools) there is also Fordham, Brooklyn, Cardozo, St. Johns, and Rutgers and Seton Hall in NJ. These schools are harder to get into (Albany averages 2.89-3.53 GPA and 153-157 LSAT) they will give you a wider array of career options. These factors can serve as a proxy for the quality of the education itself, but only that. Quality is more subjective, and you will get a reasonably good education at Albany.
