I applied to Alfred State about 10 years ago so it's been a while, but I really liked it there. I actually attended for a few days, but realized that the program that I applied to was not all I thought it was. They do have dorms on campus and they are all conveniently located near classroom buildings (depending on where your classes are held). My dorm room was in MacKenzie South. I kept in touch with my roommate for a long time afterward and visited her on a couple of occasions. The students and staff were friendly and helpful. I can't speak to the program you're interested in since I went for animal science, but the school is also affordable. I'm not sure where you're from, but if you're from upstate NY this school won't bother you as far as weather (it's cold & snowy in the winter) however, as I said before if you're used to a busling social life you may have some culture shock. I grew up in Elmira, so this wasn't so difficult for me and I wasn't too far from my family if I wanted to head home. You could have a car on campus when I was there, but I'm not sure how much a parking permit is. I would HIGHLY recommend taking a tour, they'll usually set this up with you and you can learn alot about the campus. Also, their website is pretty good too to answer any major questions.
