Will answer your last question about a reputable college, first. Please take the time to read the below link about Alliant College. It used to be known as "California School of Professional Psychology" until it merged with "United States International University". Part of what makes a "good" college is its accreditation. The WASC (who accredits Alliant College), in Feb 2005, placed it on a type of "suspension". www.wascsenior.org/wasc/Doc_Lib/AlliantPublicStatement.pdf#search='Alliant%20International%20University%20status' Also what exactly is the degree you are wanting? There are other colleges closer to home that offer degrees in Hotel/Restaurant Management. I know that going to school in California might sound fun and interesting, but it might not be right for you and/or your family. You should look for a school that offers internship sites with good companies. That has a low student loan default rate. A high rate could mean the students could not find jobs after graduating and thus defaulted on their loans. Some colleges closer to home might be: Central Pennsylvania College, Summerdale, PA www.centralpenn.edu/academics/programs/program.asp?id=X05QZQTDFfZPLYKMJXZd Hocking College, Nelsonville, Ohio www.hocking.edu/academics/schools/hospitality/hotel-restaurant_management/index.htm Right at home the Indiana University–Purdue University at Fort Wayne offers a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management. www.ipfw.edu/academics/programs/undergraduate/h/hotel/ And getting a degree from a well-known college or university can carry more weight than some place that is changing its name off and on and has a history of trouble. Just things to think about. Oh, yes about convincing your parents to pay for it. You already said they are not rich and they should not have to mortgage their home or eat beans so you can go to college. A local school, a few loans and grants and maybe a parttime job would be best.
