What School is best to go to if you want a career in Radio?
Asked by Rachel WI recently discovered that when I grow up, I want to be Ira Glass, and therefore, I need to find what college I should go to in order to fulfil my dream. Additionally, I will be transferring from North Texas. I would really like a college that will give me the in into the world of Radio. State doesn't matter.

I don't have a specific school to recommend (I'm sure others could offer that help), but going to a college with a radio station on campus is key. With all of the automation at commercial radio stations now, it's tough to find a good airshift for a beginner. In the past, you could start on overnights where you have fewer listeners and fewer distractions. It was a great way to learn. With those particular shifts vanishing to automation - you need a station (commercial or otherwise) that can give you that shot. Stick with colleges that have a station on campus and you'll not only learn every job in the building - you'll probably have a number of late night/early morning airshifts to learn and improve your skills.
