Advice for a High School Freshman aspiring to become a Doctor?

Asked by REPUBLICAN AND PROUD
To be honest, I don't know what type of Doctor I want to be yet. I am attending a very prestigious High School in my state, and I am gaining extra cirriculars. Is there any advice you have for me as I furthur my High School, and later College, career? Thanks in advance to all who answer my question!

If you love interacting with people or work with kids, then I suggest going toward the medicine side instead of the more complicated and dangerous surgery side. I would suggest physician, but I have to admit there are starting to be lots of general physicians and the competition is getting kinda stiff, so if you want more bucks, you might want to get specialized. I would suggest cardiologist or Neurologist, because I know one of my friend's dad is a cardiologist and he makes serious bucks. BUT, If you love cutting open people and are NOT afraid to see lots of blood, then i'd suggest surgery career. I'd suggest oral surgeon (dental side, but makes ALOT because you will have plenty patients). But that's just a biased answers, because I want to be an orthodontist so bad. Yep. Schooling is really long and hard. But its all worth it in the end, because being a doctor is very influential and receives envy and respect from others. Make sure you PASS ur classes in college, because it will get to you no matter how small the classes may be. Hell I failed anatomy because i didn't focus enough, and it gets me sometimes. But I plan to take it again and get that grades up, because you will face some form of competition when applying for med school. But one thing you need to keep in mind........NEVER GIVE UP!!!!!! Extra curriculars are good too. I took marching band to be more focused. And I signed up for US Navy so that the extra curricular activity section of my dental school transcript later on will be excellent, because I will actually get an hands on experience in the dental field when other applicants who just went to college does not have that. Make sure during ur high school years, take alot of extra activities that will benefit you in alot of ways. GRADES ARE FIRST!!! NEVER FORGET THAT!!! But having those activites will relieve your stress, be more focused and motivated, and have fun in high school. Because you will miss those fun times one day when you look back. Message was kinda long. But good luck and stay strong, because you will need it.
