Is it harder to get into an American university/college after going from CEGEP or an American high school?

Asked by Reva7
Is it better to go to an English CEGEP and enter a good American universiy/college sophomore year, or graduate from a good American high school and start college as a freshman? I've heard that it might put me a year behind; is this true? And what would I do about required credits?

It really depends. You have to check with the institutions and see whether or not they will accept the classes you take in another country. I know that the same degrees have different curriculum in different countries. I am working on a masters and if I were to go to Europe and get my masters there and then come back and try to get into a doctorate program it wouldn't happen. They wouldn't accept a masters from Europe. Your best bet is to go ahead and start at an American college and then do study abroad. That way you won't waste time, money, and energy on classes that they might not accept.
