Is the American college system equivalent to the UK university system?
Do American students go from High School to college then to university (in basically the same way they do in the UK), or IS college their university?

No. Of course not. The UK's educational system is worlds better then the American one. By the time, a kid graduates high school (for the UK) He has the equivalent of an American Bachelor's degree. They also graduate at 16, and going to an university, is not a question, they go. It's government funded. They also know and are completely fluent in at least, 3 languages.
