American college credit in the United Kingdom as far as their previous college credit is concerned?

Asked by The graph of Grimms Fairytales
If an American is planning to attend college in Great Britain, and that student has an AA already from a 2 year college in the United States, does that count for anything in the United Kingdom ? Will that student be starting all over or will that student get some credit, because it is strange that there is an entirely different system in the UK than there is in the United states as far as degrees goes, in American there is an A.A. degree, B.A. , M.A. , etc......How does it work in the U.K. ?
