Geometry story problem!?
Andrew's sister is away at college, and he wants to mail her a 34 in. baseball bat. The packing service sells only one kind of box, which measure 24 in. by 2in. by 18in. Will the box be big enough? Can you explain how you did it also?

You'd want the bat to fit in the box diagonally which would be the hypotenuse of a right triangle with legs = the sides of the box, 24 and 18. So use the Pythagorean Theorem and see if 24^2 + 18^2 is more than 34^2 (if so, it fits).
