Asked by Paul RCan anyone tell me if Ashford University is a good school? It is located in Clinton Iowa and I know very little about the area.

It used to be a private, Catholic 2-yr women's college (Mt St. Clare), complete with convent. It has been reincarnated as a coeducational "university" offering BA and MA degrees, a lot over the internet. The facility has been purchased by Bridgeport Education, Inc. a for-profit outfit in California. Clinton is a small eastern Iowa city on the Mississippi River north of the Quad Cities (Davenport/Bettendorf, IA/Moline/Rock Island, IL). Mt St Clare has met the fate of several private catholic colleges in that it is now co-educational and has been purchased by a for-profit educational corporation. Another regional example is Marycrest college in Davenport which was bought by a Japanese company (Teikyo) and then subsequently closed.
