UC Berkeley ready?

Asked by evelynromulus.<3
I'm currently a junior in high school, looking into colleges. I want to be a history major and I found out UC Berkeley is a good college to go to. My lowest ever GPA is a 3.5, my highest is a 4.3. Sadly I have no AP classes for junior year, but I was involved with Academic Decathlon and Physics (not many ppl at my school took this), continuing Spanish, joining CSF, I write for the city newspaper...I'm taking the S.A.T.s on May... What can I do to make my chances of getting in even better? I'm going to do community service at the local museum when I get my license next month. Please tell me and give me suggestions on what I need to better myself up for admission! I'm probably going to apply November of this year. My classes senior year are going to be: AP English AP Art History Econ and Gov. Honors (maybe AP) Spanish 5-6 Academic Decathlon Statistics Anatomy and Physiology I forgot to add that I did tennis for two years. I was supposed to have AP Art History sophomore year :(, but I had to leave THAT and Sociology for stupid Journalism problems sophomore year. That's why I quit Journalism for Junior year.

Your GPA is good, but you did not challenge yourself with any AP classes! Which I personally, would assume "not good" but it might not matter in the long run. Nice EC's. =] Be hopeful that you'll do well on your SATs, and if you don't, try taking the ACT. Many students tend to do better on that than the SAT. And yes, UC Berkeley, among the other UC's, accept the ACT. I would've suggested doing community service like volunteering at a hospital starting your sophomore year, but seeing as that it's too late, then you should find other ways to remain active. I know from experience that CSF enables you to work actively, so work hard in that club!
