Is this good enough to get into Georgia Tech?
1. SAT: 540 reading, 620 writing, 770 math 2. SAT II: Biology M 710, U.S. History 490, Math Level 2 800 3. Unweighted GPA: 3.9 4. Class rank: 23 out of 321 5. APs taken: Biology, Calculus BC, Physics B, Chemistry 6. Essay topic: Making a computer game 7. Awards: Dental assisting 1st place in state, Georgia Math League Test top scorer in school, 4 highest achievements, 3 teacher's recognitions 8. Clubs(all 11-12): Health Occupations Students of America(VP), math team, science club, National Beta club, teen tutors 9. Sports team(12): track 10. Worked as a dental assistant for 10 months....................I know this is not a good question, but I need your sincere opinions! I'm afraid I might not get accepted becuse of SAT reading, SAT II U.S. History, and athletic record.(p.s.: does GA Tech require teacher/counselor recommendations? I couldn't find the forms, and the admissions office never answered me.)

The first answerer was being rather mean. That said, your SAT reading score is somewhat questionable and I would have to say that you're not very good at expressing yourself on paper or understanding what other people say on paper. But you excel in math/science and seem to be pretty involved at your school (and you have a good class rank to prove it). The athletic stuff doesn't matter unless you're planning to join their football or basketball team (which, I'm pretty sure, you aren't). Use your essay to prove that you are an effective communicator and that you have the potential to improve your reading/writing skills. This is of critical importance to you. I'd say you have a good chance at being admitted although you're not going to get an automatic acceptance when your application arrives at their door. Also, I'm 80% certain that they don't require (or even take) recommendations for undergraduate applicants.
