Getting into Georgia Tech Honors or MIT?

Asked by Matthew T
I'm currently a sophomore and am interested in going to Georgia Tech Honors or MIT, and I was wondering what kind of grades it would take to get into these schools. Since I'm a sophomore, I can only make predictions about my grades and SAT score, but this is just what I am guessing: Unweighted GPA: 3.95+ Weighted GPA: 4.2+ (not exactly sure, but I will have a lot of weighted classes since I'm in IB) SAT Score: Math-probably somewhere in the area of 720-750 Verbal--around 650-700 Writing--Around 680--720 Extracurricular: Cross Country, Ultimate Frisbee, 2 service clubs (Alpha and Beta). I will almost definitely be president of Alpha (according to the current officers) and will probably hold a position in Beta (also, IB is considered the toughest curriculum at our school) Given, these are all guesses, but what do you think my odds are of getting into either of these schools with these kinds of stats and what I can do to improve my odds--PLEASE people with experience with either school I will also definitely be in the top 10% of my class and probably top 5%--my High school is one of the best public schools in Georgia and in the top 250 in the nation according to Newsweek.

Getting into Tech is competitive, but you can surely get in with a 3.95. I got in even with a 3.7, but I turned down the acceptance. Tech is competitive, but not as much as MIT. Good luck!
