Is Bob Jones University right for me?

Asked by computerboy93
I am in the 9th grade at a private Christian school. A lot of my teachers attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. But students at my school always make fun of the school when it is mentioned and how bad of a place it is there. I am a Christian and wouldn't mind a God-centered college as long as they weren't too strict. I hope to major in "Video Production" or "Film Production" (whichever they call it there). I read the course also includes a minor in photography. So my questions are: Is this school as bad as people say it is? Is the Film Production Course good there? (if you have taken it) Thanks, Clifton

Bob Jones University is a terrible choice. It is not accredited, meaning that a degree from there is not worth the money it's printed on. You will not be able to (1) attend an accredited graduate school or (2) get hired by a decent employer (unless you want to work at your school, I suppose...). Besides, it is VERY strict and places many restrictions on students that even the most deeply religious find completely unreasonable. Bottom line, go to an accredited school! If you really want to attend a faith-based school, there are many reputable, accredited Christian universities you should consider. Try looking into Pepperdine University (CA) or Wheaton College (the one in Illinois, not in Massachusetts), for starters.
