iam either going into the miltary to earn money for college or go to college. i want to become a pilot but dont want to serve in the military for 10 years. but if i go into the military then college will my social life be crappy because i will be 23 and my friends will be graduating form college and iam just entering it. my gpa is a 3.3 and i play sports will i have a good chance of getting into a flight school like bridgewater state college. what seems like the better choice either go onto the military for 4 years then go to college or just go to college and take out loans.

or you could always go to college, get your degree at a school that offers aerospace technology, flight technology, or something of that nature - then go into the military and if you join after you already have your degree, you're instantly an Officer (after you apply for the program and whatnot) and then you'll probably go straight into the pilot program. I'd talk to a recruiter about this, but i know a lot of times if you join after college they will offer to pay off your school loans. i also favor this route because i think that you'll have enjoyed college, you'll have your degree, and then you'll graduate and have your a career right away for at least 4 years anyways (flying as a pilot in the navy, air force, or whatever branch) and then you can try to go commercial after that or whatnot. if you do it the other way around and do the military for 4 years, then college, like you said you'll go into college at an older age and depending on how nit picky you are about it, your experience can be a little different than the typical college experience - BUT then again, you'll be more mature. then, you probably wouldn't graduate until you were 26, and then you'd graduate and what would you do after that? go back into the military (i don't know how that works, can you go in for 4 years, leave for college, and then come back?) to me, going to college, joining the military straight as an officer after you graduate seems like the better idea and i've had a couple friends who have done it that way and it has worked out excellently for them. like i said, if you do decide to go that route thought, make sure you talk to a recruiter about what kind of offers you'll have about them paying off your loans if you join them after you graduate. a lot of times they'll require you to be in the ROTC program at your college if you decide this route as well.
