Why do all the Mormons want to go to Brigham Young University?
Every Mormon kid at my school is planning on going there. They never explain why-they say "well, it's owned by my church" or something to that extent

I'm a "Mormon" who did NOT attend BYU. University of Wyoming and Duke University for me! Still, I understand why many LDS people want to attend. First, BYU has developed into a pretty good school, and some of the colleges there are first-rate. My brother got an accounting degree there, and it opened to door to a top accounting firm and a great career. Second, it's very inexpensive for a private school. If you're a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the tuition is even lower. Tithing contributions paid to the church are used to pay some of the costs, so members get a break on tuition. Third, the school has and enforces a pretty strict honor code. If you want to go to college with people who live high standards, BYU is a good choice. You don't have to be a mormon to attend, but if you're not willing to live a moral life, you'd be happier somewhere else.
