is brigham young university a good college?
Asked by interxavierHi... I'm considering Brigham Young University as a school I want to attend after HS. My status is an international student who resides in Doha, Qatar but is a Filipino. I study in an international school which follows the US curriculum. What do I need to do to be qualified? What are your opinions of this school by the way? Is it good? what are its known especialities in academics?

As someone who has gone to and graduated from BYU, I can definitively say it is a very good school. Some of the programs are nationally ranked and the tuition, even for those who aren't members of the LDS church, is very low. I think the accounting program was ranked 6th in the nation last I checked and the business program is also highly ranked as well. BYU ranks very high in terms of putting students into professional programs like medicine, law and dentistry. Having said that, the school is a religious school and as such has rules associated with behavior and dress. The curfew applies to on- and off-campus apartments and really is only applied to members of the same sex being in the apartment after hours. Beyond that you are welcome to do lots of things. I knew many students who stayed up/out well until 6am. This is not a party school. US News ranked BYU 2nd in stone-cold sober school a few years back and recently we moved up to number 1. If that is your thing then you can probably forget BYU. Campus is beautiful, professors are very good, the culture is a little weird, but manageable. Overall, it is a very impressive school.
