Asked by Love Yahoo!!! wannabe a princess
I'm planning to apply to this ones (already started some) and I'd like to get as much information as I can from different sources about them. I am a transfer from a community college, I will list them in the order I like them: 1. Brigham Young University - Provo, UT 2. Brigham Young University - Idaho 3. Boston University 4. Utah State University 5. University of Utah 6. University of Maryland Baltimore County (I am a MD resident) to major in Biochemistry or whatever related to science... I know that I want to go to Medical school.

Like the person above me said, the University of Utah has an excellent medical program. One of our researchers actually won the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine this year for his genetic research. It is by far the best school in Utah for anything medically related. I'm assuming that you're Mormon by your list of preferences. BYU and Utah State are predominantly LDS schools--most, if not all, students are followers of the Church. Utah State is a smaller college town filled with current and former USU students. It's up in the mountains so very cold during winter months. Utah State is most well known for their success in the Aeronautical Engineering field and Agriculture. BYU is funded by the LDS church, so religion plays a major role in all aspects of the school. The Business school and College of Law are both very well known across the country. The University of Utah is certainly more liberal about religion. Students come from across the country and world to attend the University, so it's not predominantly Mormon, but there is still a very large and active LDS community on campus through the Institute and through community activities. As you go further out into the suburbs of Salt Lake, it's not uncommon to find an LDS church every couple blocks. I currently live at the dorms at the University of Utah and have had an enjoyable experience so far, both in residence and on-campus. There is also a lot to do in Utah, from the many activities in Salt Lake City, to some of the world's best skiing less than an hour outside of the city, to some very nice hiking areas in the south. I would strongly recommend attending the University of Utah among all the Utah schools for your desired major.
