Has anyone gotten a Masters of Arts for teaching from Empire State College in NY?

Asked by Steeplechaser
I am thinking of enrolling in Empire State College on Long Island. I currently have a Bachelors in History from Stony Brook University. The MAT program allows you to teach in "High need" schools. Questions: Where are these "high need" schools? (I'm guessing NYC) How bad are the schools? scary? dangerous? can a man get through it? Its paid work right? How hard are the classes? Any info is greatly appreciated. thanks

My Masters did not come from Empire State College, but if you want to get yours there and it is close to home, go for it. Accept for a few "online" pay $50 and you get a degree in the mail scams, I think most accredited universities and colleges will help you land a good job doing whatever you want to do. High need schools, well, watch movies such as DANGEROUS MINDS, FREEDOM WRITERS, et al, and get an idea of how dangerous and scary they can be. Can you get through it, sure. Is the pay plan right, I can't answer that. How hard are the classes? You decide, as my classes were difficult but doable, and the classes I have taught have not been hard at all. It has been hard to motivate a few students, but that comes with the territory. Good luck.
