You can go to any school for your undergraduate work and major in anything you wish...as long as you meet the prerequisite coures for the graduate program to which you hope to apply. Since it involves a lot of sciences, most PTs choose majors such as biology, health care sciences, kinesiology, movement sciences, etc. As far as the schools you've listed above, Alabama State and Florida A&M both have PT programs. I would say that neither is stellar, but meet the requirements for a PT education and have been accredited for at least the last 5 years. Niether school gives any significant information such as past first pass rate on licensure nor their student to faculty ratio, publication history, etc on their profile on the APTA website. Another thing to consider is that ASU results in the doctorate degree (DPT) and F A&M results in the MPT. One of the other posters made a good suggestion for you to visit the APTA website where they have a list of all accredited US PT programs.
