Where do I begin for college??

Asked by kayla b
Im 21, and a veteran. My husband is Active Duty Air Force, and we have a son, who is 1.5 years old. Im a stay at home mom, and id like to change that. We need the money, and i need the sanity. I graduated from an uncredited private christian school, but i have a "Diploma". I have never thought of myself as a college "go getter". But, there arnt many ppl who hire without a. experience, or b. schooling within the jobs qualifications. I would prob. be going to Clovis Community College, in Clovis, NM.. and more than likely, id be going for Nursing. i have NO idea where to begin... i DO NOT have the money to go... i DO NOT know anything about courses, or credits, semesters... and all that jaz.. I know i could prob. go to the college and talk to an advisor.. but id like to know SOMETHING before i go. Not to mention the fact that my husband is a firefighter in the AF, and he works 24 hour shifts, every other day. =-( so.. how can i do this?? Someone.. please help!! ps. no vet benifits!

The best approach is maybe heading to the local workforce or welfare office to get help with childcare, so you could attend college (should be listed in the blue pages of the telephone book under state government services). Second, I recommend applying with the FAFSA form which will provide grants, need based scholarships, and even campus work study money based on your family size (3), your husband's income, and savings. I will also include some other free resources to help you with the process listed below. Good luck!
