Bowdoin, Colby, Bates?

Asked by Helter Skelter
I'd really like to attend either Bowdoin, Colby, or Bates. They all seem like great colleges that would benefit me greatly. There are a few issues I am concerned about though. Many schools (including these, I believe) require 2 years of a foreign language. I go to an alternative school that doesn't offer ANY foreign language classes. I really don't know how I can get those credits if I can't take the courses. Also, do you think the fact that I attend an alternative school will make me less eligible? My grades are well and everything. I get all A's and B's (more A's than I do B's) and I'm on the High Honor roll. If I keep it up, I'm expecting to be in the top quarter (if not the top tenth) of my class. I will be entering my junior year come August so I still have those two years to take a foreign language if I can find a possible way. But I have one other concern. My school doesn't offer much extracurricular activities. I'd have to go to the other high school to participate (it's much larger). I don't have any interest in those classes though. The only team I am on is an environmental group. I have already been on for one year, and am planning to do a couple more. Do you think my lack of extracurricular activities will affect me tremendously? Should I do more hours of community service to make up for it? I know this is long. I'm just extremely worried about my future. I want to excell and believe I can really do good at one of these colleges. But I don't know if I'm applicable.
