i cannot give you advise on which college to go to. but i will tell you what to major in, then you have to find out which schools have this. i am a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at Johns Hopkins Hospital. i work in the Hematology lab but i have also worked in the blood bank but my degree gives me the oppurtunity to work in many many different kinds of labs. when i started school i thought that i needed to major in Biology (but none of those people found jobs, LOL) . I ended up majoring in Clinical Laboratory Science aka Medical Technology. its called different things at different colleges. A Phlebotomist only draws blood and doesnt make alot of money. i made 65K last year. i am going back for my masters this fall. i really like my job i love the lab i love microscopes. I had my pick of job all over the East coast ranging from Forensics to Immunlogy. To do the cytotechnologist i think you could do the same program just at the end you may need to go to a type of grad school. you could be so many different things in the lab with this major. there will always be a shortage and you will always find work. PLease dont hesitate to email me with any questions about the lab i would be very happy to help anyone interested in lab work.
