How do these colleges compare?

Asked by Keller
I would love to go to a prestigious college such as (Duke, NYU, UT) and I was also thinking about the College of Charleston, Because Charleston is beautiful and closer to where i live now. But how does the College of Charleston compare to Duke, NYU, and University of Texas?

While College of Charleston, may be a fine learning institution, it does not have the name recognition as do some of the other colleges and universities that you mentioned. Unfortunately, you may receive just as fine a education at College of Charleston as you would at some of the other universities, but when an employer is looking over your resume the bigger name universities are the ones that catch the eye of the employer first. No it isn't fair, but honestly if you were the employer and you had two prospective employees with one going to College of Charleston and the other went to Duke, which would you choose? They start thinking of the admission requirements, higher at Duke, the competition to get in, higher at Duke, the prestige of the university name, Duke has more name recognition, the degree of difficulty of courses, it may not be accurate, but the employer will believe that Duke is tougher on grades-So what could be a A at College of Charleston would equal a low B or high C at Duke-So a B average from Duke is higher than a A average at College of Charleston. From a purely business stand point the prospective employee from Duke would most likely be at the top of the employers Job offer list.
