For the past year, I have done research on this for my civic club. We sponsor a youth club at the high school and the kids are asking the same question. Below I will list some of what I have found (getting tired of typing this, have already told 4 people tonight). Some corporations offer scholarships. In many cases, they have each of their stores to award the scholarships to student in their community. 1 company, provides scholarships to kids as young as 6 (that was not a typing error on my part). On these websites, look for something like: ABOUT US or CORP INFO. Go there, and then look for COMMUNITY or COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: 1. www.bestbuy.com (look for Make Learning Fun) up to $10,000 2. www.comcast,com up to $1,000 or an internship + a scholarship if Comcast provides cable in your area 3. www.CBRLGROUP.COM (Cracker barrel) Look for CBRL Foundation 4. www.kohls.com (MY FAVORITE) up to $5,000 5. www.walmartfoundation.ORG Look for: COMMUNITY scholarship, up to $1,000 or $2,500 if an employee 6. www.mcdonalds.com Varies from a corporation scholarship or if it is provide by the local group of people operating stores. Most are a 1 or 2 page application. Most considers civic invovment (Keyettes, Key Club, Science Club, etc). Good luck, and if you don't find a "match" with these companies, try some other companies in your area - check their websites.
