Do I need a PH.d to teach Poetry at a 4 year college?
I'm studying to become a Creative Writing Professsor. I'll be graduating in a year from college with a major in Psychology. I know I need to go on to grad school to be a college professor, but how high a degree do I need to earn? Is it different for 2 year schools and 4 year universities? What about public and private colleges?

There are two kinds of people who teach poetry at good universities. One type is someone who has a PhD in literature and is trained in critical theory. The other type is an established poet -- one with lots of publications. He may or may not have a PhD -- but if he doesn't, might have a MA in creative writing. To be honest, the PhD is the easier route. It is hard to support yourself while becoming an established poet.
