I would like to study Creative Writing or Journalism. What college/university in the USA should I attend?
Asked by lillyI would love to attend New York University, but it is such a famous university that I am afraid they would not accept me. Also, what will I need to have achieved in order for them to accept me? (What GPA...what high school activities and such...)

First don't take creative writing at college. It is a waste of time and money. I think that if you are really interested in writing just buy some books and write everyday. Keep an idea notebook nearby so you can write down good ideas before you loose them. Creative Writing courses are filled with some very uncreative people and the teachers and format really do not pull the best out of you. As far as high school activities you should do what interests you the most. A story can be found from lots of different places. Experience is the best teacher. Now Journalism is a more serious field of study. I know that LSU has a student newspaper and lots of ways to be productive while at school and you have to be a decent student to get in but the competition is not so bad. Come down south and have fun.
