Dropping out of school and getting back in?

Asked by jparkdzg
How difficult is it for a student that dropped out of a major university (Purdue) after 3 semesters to get into a different university (one in Illinois, since I live there and it will be cheaper)? I plan on studying at College of Dupage (community school) for at least a year, if not I might get my AAS there. Would I be able to transfer to UIUC if I had good grades at Dupage and got my AAS?

How long has it been since you dropped out? How old were you then? Were you fresh out of high school? How were your grades until you dropped out? The answers to these questions may make a difference. All schools have their own entrance requirements and a way of prioritizing applicants. If it has been a couple of years since you dropped out and you have been employed since then, it may not matter. The new university would consider the fact that you have probably matured since then and know better what you want to do and are more serious about it. It would also help if your grades were at least acceptable, and if you can present a good reason for dropping out. Only the specific schools you are interested in can give you a definite answer. Why not begin the process of finding out by making some inquiries at the schools? Best of luck with it.
