Has anyone taken an online class for school before? What was it like?

Iam just starting my pre reqs for nursing at College of Dupage. I signed up for all my classes but there is this 9:30am class and there is no way I can get to it. I have to take public transportation to get out to COD in the morning for all of my classes. I have two options to get there either I take an early train around 8:30 am in the morning to get me to the class or I Take it online. The way I get out there I take a bus to the train station then get on the train to get to naperville then I get on a bus and all of this takes 1 1/2 hours commute time. What should I do either tae the early train at 6:30 am or take the class online. I have no car so I rely on public transportation to get me to school. If I took the next train it won't be until 8:30am and that will get me to the bus I need to get late. The college has a policy if you are late 3 times to a class then you are dismissed for the class. What is it like to take an online class?

Well, you mention external factors such as just the physical effort that you must exert just to get to class. Not counting all of that, holding everything else equal, online classes tend to be more difficult. Many students lack the self-discipline that must exist to keep up with the class assignments. Also, the there is not the teacher/student interaction that often fosters learning in the classroom. Having said all of that, I do feel, however, that students who go through an online class often come out of it having learned more and remembering more than if they had been in the classroom. This is because they have have to "dig" for it more on their own. I say all of this from my perspective as a teacher.
