Is CUNY a reputable place to get a phd in chemistry?
I was applying for a job at the City University of New York. Instead, they asked me if I'd like to apply for PHD there b/c I seem qualified for that. The thing is, I got my master's from a prestigious top 50 university. Is it worthwhile to have a phd from CUNY? The only reason I am considering doing this is b/c I just really wanna find a job but now I think maybe I need a backup in case I couldnt find one. And right now I dont have many choices b/c a lot of school have early deadlines like NYU or Columbia. So should I apply for CUNY?

CUNY is a perfectly respectable university with a good name. But I would still advise you to accept the CUNY offer and then start applying for PhD programs in higher ranking universities. You can find such rankings on USNews.com, some of the lists may not be free.
