How do i get into columbia university in new york city?

The school really wants to know why you want to specifically go to Columbia--not just because it's an Ivy. How has what you've done prepared you for the competitiveness of the Columbia entering class? What specific programs that Columbia offers interests you, and what can YOU offer the freshman class? There are many factors beyond your control, but even the highest GPA/SAT attainers are bumped by those with good essays outlining what I've listed above. Also make sure you have very good letters of recommendation that focus on how you achieved goals and contributed to the activity/classroom setting.
