County Colleges?

Asked by Brooke R
I live in New Jersey and for my county's county college (County College of Morris), there's a program that allows students who graduate in the top 20% of their class to go to the county college for free. So I plan to go for the 2 years for free to obtain my associate's degree in nursing. Around December I searched all over the CCM website for a deadline for applying, but there was none. I applied at the beginning of January after I talked to my guidance counselor, and so the application and transcript is all sent. I was just wondering if it's normal for county colleges to not have deadlines since they're... well, county colleges. I'm just worried in the back of my head that there WAS some deadline that I missed and that I won't be eligible or something. Also, does anyone know off-hand how long it takes to get a acceptance letter from a county college? My guidance counselor said I should try calling after a while, but she did not specify how long I should wait. Thanks!

Most community/county colleges are open admission without deadlines (much to the chagrin of the faculty and staff at registration time, believe me). I suggest you contact the admissions or enrollment services office to find out. You need a specific answer from your chosen school, so don't hesitate to get in touch. Congratulations, BTW, on this great opportunity!
