questions about teaching in other states?
I am currently in my senior year studying to become a high school history teacher. I live in Pennsylvania and go to Duquesne University. Anyway, I have been thinking about moving after I graduate and I'm not sure how the certifications work. I definitely want to get certified to teach in PA, but what do I do if I want to move to New York, or New Jersey, or Virginia? Is there somewhere I could look to find information on being able to teach there? Also, does anyone know what would be a good state to teach at? I am most likely thinking New York - are there any areas in particular that may be worth looking at? Please, any information will help. Thanks!

I think you are getting all worked up about nothing. Certification is little more than registering in the state and via the degree proving you are qualified to teach a certain level of subject...with a degree in hand I suspect certification is just about universal in the US....might need to pay a small fee. Every state has a board of eduction likly called different names but essentially the same and would clairify under the .gov on line locale. I think you will find your services welcome anywhere...it really has more to do with what YOU want. I for one would strongly consider the south, Texas NM AZ CA. But I happen to not care for the NE nor the cold.
