qeustions about applying to college...?

Asked by stressed college student
Okay, here's the deal - I am 21 years old and I just graduated from college and got my degree as a high school history teacher. Anyway, I want to go back to school for one more degree - in accounting. I am from Pittsburgh, PA and I want to go to school at Baruch College in NYC. The problem is that I am making this decision a little later than I had hoped. Is it too late to apply for Fall 2007?? If I can't attend there, then I will most likely have to go back to my previous school - Duquesne University. Second question - I have never stayed at dorms before - I have always commuted to school - would it be weird if I stayed at the dorms and I'm 21? Or should I look for an apartment. Third question - what would I apply as?? I have my bachelor's degree already and I was hoping to be able to use at least some of my undergraduate classes - so would I apply as a freshman or transfer?? Please - any info will help!! Oh yea - a few more things.... I am happy with the degree that I have, but I have wanted a degree in accounting and teaching since I started and I was advised to finish one before starting the next. Second, I am aware how expensive NYC is...I have been saving my $$ for a while. Third, sorry for my spelling error in my question...:)

Each deadline for applications is different. More than likely, the deadline is past for Fall 2007. But, it is worth a try to contact the school's registrar's office to find out the exact date. Further, if the deadline is past, at least you can find out when the spring 2008 deadline is for reference. If you stayed in a dorm, a good majority of the students will be freshman and sophomores. A lot of Juniors and Seniors move off campus if they are able. So, you will more than likely be the oldest, or one of the oldest, students in the dorm. If you are comfortable with that, go for it. Bear in mind, the work ethic of a new college student may not be equivalent to you. Be prepared for possible loud noise and commotion in hallways, nearby rooms ,etc. Again, contact the school to find out the particulars on what you would apply as. Probably, you would apply for a masters in accounting. Since you already have your Bachelor's degree, all or most of the prerequisites are covered. You would mainly focus on the courses in the accounting field. Good luck!
