What are my chances of getting accepted into Emory University?
I applied for freshman admission for Emory University in the fall of 2007. I am currently a senior in a high school in middle Georgia. I am the salutatorian of my high school class and was named the star student for this year. I had a 97.6 average in a class of 200. I had a 790 on math and a 680 on verbal. I was voted on as most intelligent by my senior class this year. For my extracurriculars, i was very active in the band program, serving as band captain my senior year and ranking in the top saxophone players in the state.I visited the campus a few times and I really loved the enivronment Emory had to offer. However, I barely made the deadline, submitting my application on January 15. Also my grades in the 1st semester of my senior year fell some and i ended up with 5 As and 2 Bs. I am afraid that this will hurt me in the admissions process. Emory has now become my first choice for college and I would love for your input on my acceptance. Thanks!

I think you have pretty good chance to get in. I'm a high school senior, and I applied for fall 07, and got in. I'm def. not the salutatorian, but I actually got the same SATs as you did, 790 math, 680 reading!!! I have about the same grades as you though. I don't think barely making the deadline matters, I barely got my stuff for Emory postmarked on the deadline. Colleges should understand that your senior grades are not straight A's you're supposed to be busy with applying to colleges. They have a lot of scholarships for students in GA, I was reading their info, looking for scholarships I could get. Good luck!!!!!! Maybe I'll see you there next fall....
