I currently attend Gonzaga University, and have applied as a transfer student to Harvard, Cornell, Yale, and Stanford. I'm currently a freshman and have a ***. 4.0 GPA and recently received a 2290 on the SAT 1 (M: 780, V:750, W:760) and a 35 on the ACT ( ENG: 34, M:35, SCI: 35, R: 36) with a 10 on the writing section. Hopefully with these credentials I will be admitted into at least one of these schools. However, I'm unsure if it's worth all of the extra effort needed in order to attend these Uni's (financial, and academic). I was planning on majoring in Nursing/pre-med @ Gonzaga. If I graduate with a 4.0, I basically have a guaranteed starting salary of 75k as an ICU nurse (with overtime I could easily make a 6-figure income). My dilemma is that I do not want to have a mediocre job: I aspire to become a MD, and at the same time earn a PhD, but I still want to earn an above average income in the meanwhile (before I go to Grad and or med school). What should I do?

To above poster: MD/PHD programs are not unrealistic. Just like everything else thats worthwhile in life it will take hard work and it will probably take more time than an MD alone. Many schools offer this and schedule the students appropriately. Several schools even have MD/MBA (medicine and a masters in business), and MD/JD (medicine and law) and MSTP programs. It is possiible. May take anywhere between 4-8 years.| GO for your dreams.
