should i go to a far away college?
So right now, im going to be going into my junior year in high school and im planning for college. im stuck in a really really small town in wisconsin. here are my college picks so far: university of hawaii-hilo or manoa, thats the farthest one. university of wisconsin- madison, or oshkosh, or whitewater, nyu, columbia, ucla, or university of california -san diego, or colleges far east. what do you think? my moms boyfriend tells me i wont make it if i go to far, but he wants me to go to a community college, live at home, and control my life. thats one reason i want to leave this stinkin state! please give me some advice, thanks, appreciate it! p.s. i've been to oahu, and i love it there!

You have some time before you go off but I understand wanting to get away. Sounds like you wouldn't mind boarding high school at the moment...just to get away. My parents lived about 3 hrs. away from the college I went to. It was good to have a second place to go to that didn't cost money to stay. Believe it or not there are going to be times that you wanna get away from everyone at school, especially if you plan on attending a large school in a big city. You may want to consider smaller to medium size schools in a smaller city that is far enough away from home but not too far as to need a plane ticket home. You would be in culture shock if you moved into a dorm in manhattan. But only you know what is best. It may be exactly what you need. Only two more years. It will go fast. Just keep up those grades and have fun in the process of choosing a school. Try and visit the school before you committ.
