Any Heald College Graduates with Network Admin AS Degree?

Asked by Jas W
I am thinking about attending Heald and obtaining this degree. I'm a bit unnerved though when it comes tech/trade-schools. If you graduated with this degree did it help you obtain a decent entry level job in network administration? Did you combine the degree with some certifications as well? Did Heald help place you into something decent or did you end up at Geek Squad? Are you happy you did it or was it a total waste for you? Please, if you did not attend Heald and you do not have the degree I don't want to hear from you. I have heard lots of negative things from people who never attended Heald and know nothing about the program. I'd rather hear it from the horses mouth so to speak. (I fully expect to get 10 posts of people saying "duuuude it's a diploma mill and youzzza can gets a job in mcdonalds with dat degree ddduuuuurr) Ah, I would love to get a BS in Network Administration, but the only 4-year university in my city is Fresno State and they don't offer one. They offer a BS in Computer Science which I don't think I could handle because of all the math involved. They also offer a Industrial Technology BS with the option of taking a bunch of networking type courses as your electives. I was thinking about that route, but I'm not sure how an employer would view a degree that is not called "Network Administration".

My brother actually got a AS degree from heald college in network admin couple years ago. He's doing pretty well for himself now. He's working with this private company and he's making about $90,000 a year. When he started, he made about $60,000 but he was doing pretty good and the company was expanding so they promoted him and he's doing very well as of now. Last time I saw him, he told me that his company is thinking about going international and if they do, he'll be holding the executive position of the international branch. I can't imagine the money he'll be making if it goes international. It's not for everyone though. My brother worked really hard to get that AS degree and he knew his stuff inside out. In his free time, he'd use to go to library and read all this computer stuff to get ahead. I guess if you're willing to work hard, there's going to be tons of money for you. I suggest you might want to get AS in Network Admin, not necessarly from Heald but any college. Opportunity in network admin are endless. I'm graduating high school this summer 2009 and I'm definetely going to get my AS degree in network admin. I hope my brother can hook me up with a job in his company afterwards. Good luck to you my friend.
