Do good universities really have to run half-hour infomercials to advertise? This is the first time I have ever seen this done. Sort of puts Liberty U in the same class as Kee Business College, ITT Tech, and MCI. I wonder. What are your opinions?

There are some decent universities that have run commercials. I saw one, I think it was for Duke, and Duke is definately a good school. In my case, I assumed it was because they were trying to recruit more students from my geographic area. So having a commercial doesn't necessarily mean the school is rotten. That said, Liberty University? It's a college firmly grounded in its religion, and it's a fairly new school (1970's) which is trying to become better and better with each year. Thus they need to bring attention to themselves, since a lot of applicants who might be interested in them may not know of them. Know that it's a fourth tier school, which isn't very competitive. It's also very, very expensive, so make sure it's a good fit for you before you decide to attend. It's tied to a fairly controversial religious leader (Jerry Falwell), and employers know that, so be sure you want to be identified with this school before you go. And lastly, and of concern, is its accreditation. Although it's regionally accredited right now (that's the type you want, so that's good!) it's had accreditation problems in the past, often due to financial issues. This should be of concern to you. So, is it a good school? Interesting question. It's okay, but no, it's not great. It is a real school, but low ranked, expensive, and with other factors that mean that, if this school isn't perfect for you in terms of fit, you may want to look at the other area schools instead.
