Live in Minnesota, my wife is planning to go to Minnesota School of Business. They been teaching for 131 year this year on Hand-Training. The total cost for medical Assistant Associate degree cost $35k for the whole program. Not talking about diploma. I belived my wife will get like 10k financial aid, and rest are loan. Is that a average cost for a associate degree in medical field or is it too much. My wife and I are not legally married with paper work done. We have two kids. So i just wander if that a fair average cost or is it tooo much for just an associate degree. And anyone of you guy gradeate from that Institute? Any commend would be very appreciate.

No! Most medical facilities will only hire M.A.'s to do C.N.A. work, basically that's the undesirable patient care tasks, like changing diapers, giving showers and feeding patients that cannot do it for themselves. With a M.A. your wife will be doing this same type of work and MAYBE dispensing some medications too; she'll make a little more per hour than a CNA, but a CNA program is usually only about 90 days or less and quite often they are free to the student. The M.A.s I know are disappointed with the money they recieve compared to the money (and time) they spent. If your wife is going to spend that much time and money for a career in nursing, I suggest she look into a L.P.N. program. Your local comunity college probably has a program that is covered 100% by financial aid and if she decides to go further with her education all the credits will transfer to a four year college.
