I'm a rising senior and i'm looking into some colleges. My freshman year my grades were pretty solid. sophmore year was my best academic year, but my junior year i really messed up on (like getting all B's). I really want to get into a good college and i have a few that i'm really interested in. UCLA Univers. of Michigan Univers. of Miami Notre Dame Berkeley Cornell Univers. of Florida Northwestern Boston University Can i get into any of these school? please let me know at least which 3 i have a chance to get in. thanks. and please dont give answers like give more details. my freshman year i had a 3.5, sophmore year a 3.8 and junior year a 3.3, i play tennis, and neither of my parents went to college so i'll be a first generation college student. i didnt do so hot on the SAT or ACT but i plan on retaking both of those and SAT II subject tests. oh, and i'm ranked 80 out of 300. oh, and i'm doing ton of volunteer work over the summer.

You don't say what state you live in. It's far easier to get into a state school if you are coming from in-state than if you are not. The fact that you will be a first-generation college student acts in your favor. The fact that you're in the top 25% of your school is beneficial, but some of the schools you've listed will consider that low. You also didn't list your exact SAT/ACT score, but if it's very low, that can hurt you a lot. It's unlikely you have a chance at Michigan, UCLA, or Berkeley, if you're out of state. Cornell, ND, NW---also reaches for you. It's possible you have a chance at BU, UF, or UM, but without knowing more, it's hard to say. For example, schools will take into consideration your economic status, your opportunities, your school's reputation, etc. If your school has lots of honors and AP classes, and you didn't take the most challenging classes possible, colleges are going to want to know why. If your school has a good reputation, but your test scores are still really low, they're going to want to know why. On the other hand, if you come from a school that isn't very good, colleges will take that into consideration when looking at your test scores--if you didn't have an opportunity to learn the material on the SAT, they won't hold you accountable for that. College admissions is SUPER competitive right now. As I mentioned in another answer, you should have a list of realistic choices--there are thousands of colleges out there, and you're aiming at all top-tier schools.
