University Problems?

Asked by Q2
Hello. I am having severe doubts about my ability to get into college. My list of colleges im considering is as follows. University of Texas at Austin University of North Texas Northwestern Cornell Boston University University of Georgia University of Hawaii University of Massachusetts UCLA/ UCD Indiana UCSD(Sand Diego) Vermont Arizona Connecticut Delaware Vanderbilt Michigan State Indiana Illinois Emory University of Washington (state not DC) University of Wisconsin My GPA is 2.8-3.1 somewhere in that range. I got a 22 on my ACT and a 1650 on my SAT 1. 490 on the US history and Mathematics 1 SAT II and a 650 on the World history SAT II. Im going to retake these because of the horrid scores. Ive taken 1 AP class junior year got a 3 on the exam and got an 86 in the class. And im going to take 2 more senior year. Also I have taken 2 pre AP classes and I'm taking more than the minor amount of science and math classes needed to graduate Im now starting as a senior in High school and I'm going to volunteer at the very beginning of senior year or community service credit for college. Also I will be getting a job within a week or so. I have received 1 award as an excellence in usage of technology from my school. Oh and I've taken 2 years of Latin and 1 year of German. AND I'm VERY good at writing essays so I think I'll be able to ace the application essays. I was in Latin club freshman year and im planning on joining German Club this year as a senior. Do I have even the slightest chance at getting into anything on my list? Thanks for all the help. - Skidbladnir

Thats a lot of money spent on school apps. To tell you the truth, you might have some trouble getting into a few of these schools such as Cornell, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, UTA or the 3 UC's. If you have extra curricular activities that would help a lot. I wouldn't really worry about it. Your credentials seem average but aren't too bad. Just make sure you do well in your senior year, although senior year won't really count too towards college. Well maybe the 1st semester of senior year will count. If you do apply to all these schools, you will most likely get accepted to at least one or two of the schools. Just a suggestion...I'm not sure if your SAT is out of 2400, but if it is I would suggest that you retake the SAT1. In my experience, the SAT1 was much more important than the SAT2's.
