Which college?

Asked by carolinafootball101
I really wanna go to Virginia tech for college, coz i live in VA and its the best engineering school around. I have a 3.5+ gpa, ill finish with 8 AP classes( I'm a rising Senior), got 1210 on SAT 640 math, 570 reading, the first time, don't know my results of the second time, extra cirriculars: track, tennis, volunteering at the library. Also is it possible for me to get in University of Pittsburgh and/ or Penn State or University of Texas ( those r my other 3 choices). Im also applying to UVA, but doubt i can get in.

I'm sure you're really look for a straight forward answer but I'm just not sure you're going to find one. First of all, after you graduate, the name of the institution you attended doesn't really matter all that much so make sure that you choose a school in your budget (or your parents budget). I was really interested in top name schools and went to one myself and came up disappointed that no one really cared that I went there. It sounds like you're doing great in high school so next you need to focus on your career goals. If you want to do engineering VaTech is great. If medicine is what you're looking for Pitt is amazing. Also take into consideration the amount of time you want to be traveling to come home. I chose a school that was 4.5 hours away. I thought it was perfect because it was an inconvience to go home, but a do-able day trip if I really wanted to trek back home. Also, take a look at their clubs and activities and see if they fit your lifestyle. If possible I would also look people up on facebook to see if they are "your type of people" that you would want to hang out with. Good luck with your decision. (I went to school in VA and loved it - I'm also from Pittsburgh so I rep Pitt as well)
